When you think about money, what thoughts comes into your mind first?
For far too many people,  money brings up fear, worry, concern, conflict, failure, disappointment, scarcity  and stress. Especially these days.

However money doesn’t need to bring these associations to mind. Especially if you begin applying my 10 Golden Rules For Extreme Success, which I will be teaching in my new Golden Touch coaching sessions.

Which reminds me of A GOOD GOLDEN TOUCH STORY:

Back in the gold-rush days there were two men — Darby and his Uncle - who were very much  bitten by the “gold fever” bug, who decided to go west to dig and grow rich! After a few weeks of digging, Darby and Uncle happily discovered the first signs of potential gold: shining ore. They just needed to buy the machinery and bring this trove to the earth’s surface.

Darby immediately returned home and persuaded his family and neighbors to lend him the necessary cash to buy the machinery. Once bought, Darby and Uncle excitedly began their digging. Then something unexpected happened. Something bad. The vein of gold ore suddenly disappeared! Their pot of gold no longer appeared to be waiting for them!

At first Darby and Uncle continued to feverishly dig.  But there was nada gold in sight. Ultimately the two accepted defeat, and sold their machinery to a local junk man for a few mere hundred dollars.

The junk man was no dummy. He immediately sought the advice of an engineer, who explained how fault lines can sometimes separate a vein of gold. The engineer suggested that if the junk man were to return to this land and dig even just a wee bit deeper, plenty of gold might be found.

And so the junk man returned — and dug and dug and dug.  Or rather simply dug. It didn’t take long to hit gold. A mere three feet below where Darby and Uncle had stopped digging, there lay a huge resource of gold — the greatest gold stores the nation had seen to date.

Imagine Darby’s reaction when he heard this news — how a mere three feet away from where he’d once stood there lay a tremendous fortune! Are you imagining Darby’s reaction? Remember: Not only did Darby miss out on all this amazing gold - he now also owed relatives and neighbors lots of money for the machinery.

Are you imagining a man who’s filled with anger, resentment, failure, defeat, humiliation — a man lying face down in bed, drivel leaking from his mouth onto pillow case — a man feeling as if his entire life had been ruined?

If so, imagine again! Darby was far from defeated. He not only went on to pay back every dollar owed — he recouped his loss many times over! How is this possible? Darby cashed in on this first golden rule.

GOLDEN TOUCH RULE #1
A POWERFUL DESIRE CAN ALCHEMIZE DEFEAT INTO GOLD

After Darby found out about the junk man with the golden touch, he immediately took a job selling life insurance — so as to stay very focused on paying back his loans.

Darby was passionately determined not to be a failure. Each and every day, when Darby hit the streets to sell insurance, he’d push himself forward with a rousing reminder about how he should not have given up that time before  — how quitting had cost him a huge fortune.  If Darby ever felt ready to give up on a sale, he’d repeat the same motivational mantra: “I stopped three feet from gold, but I will never stop now because men say `no’ when I ask them to buy insurance.”

This mantra worked. Eventually Darby became one of a small group of fewer than fifty men who were able to sell more than a million dollars in life insurance annually - a very rare feat back then.

Alchemy is a great metaphor to keep in mind when dealing with adversity and setbacks. After all, often it’s after you’ve gone through the proverbial fire that you come out with the most valuable lessons.

DARBY’S LESSON IN A SINGLE VALUABLE GOLDEN NUGGET: A mind focused on gold is worth a mine of gold.

Best selling author Ekhart Tolle said it well when he said: “The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly. You usually don’t use it at all. It uses you.”

Translation: No matter what your monetary situation — no matter how much disaster and defeat you’ve been dealt — you can turn it around — by re-focusing your mind on your fire of desire.

All successful people share in common this fiery determination to master the game of life.  There are no wishy washy Nobel Peace Prize Winners, no wishy washy CEO’s, no wishy washy rock stars.

Of course it’s difficult for the average person to remain passionately determined when greeted by bumps and roadblocks.  But YOU are not an average person. Right? You are an EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL PERSON SNAGGING EXTREME SUCCESS — at least you will be ON MY WATCH while I’m coaching you!
